Second International historic cities congress

We are pleased to announce the second International historic cities congress that will be held on 16.- 19. 03. 2016, organized by the Solin Tourist Board, Hotel President Solin and Solin city, at the Hotel President Solin *****.

We are glad to acknowledge that the congress will be held under the high patronage the President of the Republic of Croatia Ms. Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism, Croatian Tourist Board, the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County, the French Embassy in Croatia, Split-Dalmatia County and the Croatian Association of historical cities.

The concept of the International historic cities congress 2016 - "Meet, share and build" is aimed at key people in the tourism of historic cities. Theme of the Congress is the promotion and development of new tourism products in historical cities across the Croatia through "benchmarking" with cities abroad. Historical periods that will be presented include the periods from prehistory to the Middle Ages, with an emphasis on antique period. Our goal is to present historic cities of Croatia and abroad from different historical periods, with an emphasis on destination management, and creative and interpretative presentation of historical sites.

International ancient cities congress held on 25.-28. February this year, is the first project of its kind in Croatia and has achieved great results. The aim of the congress was to encourage meetings of leading people in the tourism of ancient cities, as tourist boards and representatives of travel agencies, exchange of experiences in terms of promoting them on domestic and international tourism market as well as the development of new tourism products and packages. The Congress was attended by lecturers from tourist and archaeological profession, the French association of historical cities, ancient cities of France, a representative of Oxford University, and ancient cities of Split, Solin and Pula. Furthermore, the Congress brought together more than a hundred participants, including the representatives of the Ministry of culture and tourism of the Republic of Croatia, French Embassy and the French association of historical cities, as well as representatives from Oxford university and representatives of local government, cultural and educational institutions and representatives of the ancient and historical cities such as Dubrovnik, Karlovac, Pula, Split, Trogir, Rab, Nin and Zadar. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the application form in the attachment and pay the appropriate registration fee, without which the application is not valid, and no later than 15.02.2016., so we are able to conclude the list of participants.
