The Solin Library was established by the City of Solin in 1997. For eight full years, the library was located on the ground floor of the Zvonimir Cultural Centre, taking up an area of only 75 square meters. In the spring of 2006, it was relocated into 240 square meters of renovated space in an office/residential building (known as the Milas building) in the very center of the town, greatly enhancing its services. A wide range of library services has led to marked increase in the number of users.
Discussion groups, creative workshops and the screening of films for children regularly take place here on and all the users have access to a range of multimedia materials, which they can either use in the library or take home on loan. The reading room contains the Salonitana collection of reference books and local literature, enabling scientific and research work. The library also has modern IT equipment that enables individual study, printing, internet access, library catalog searches, photocopying and other services. The library makes an important contribution to the cultural life of Solin through the organization of exhibitions, lectures, literary evenings and book presentations.
Over the years, the library has expanded its network by opening branches in Vranjic, Mravince and Sveti Kaj, to ensure the residents of these villages access to knowledge and to help them organize various activities for their citizens.
